Attention all radio and other deejays:
Awbvious.com has always been free, and will always stay that way. Unfortunately for me, awbvious.com is free, but also almost completely unknown. I only accept donations, and my donations to date have been $4.55 (after paypal deductions, and that was just a friend making the lowest $5 donation).
In order to get more donations I need to be less invisible to the populous at large. Which is why I'm saying that from now (September 24, 2006) until the end of the year (December 31, 2006), all my music (most of which can be found at www.awbvious.com/new.htm) can be played on your stations, or any other type of venue, entirely royalty free. Free of any royalties that would be paid to me.
I'm only saying royalties to me, because there may be royalties that need to be paid to other people. I know nothing about copywrite laws, except that you can't use even a single note of the original recording to make a cover. And as of the last couple years, I've made almost exclusively covers. Thus, all my covers of songs (songs that are very likely within your own playlists) have my own instruments, or use my vocals to mimic the sound of instruments. But regardless, royalties may need to be paid to the original artists, I simply do not know if royalties would be needed to play my songs on your station/venue.
All I ask in return--and this is not necessary, just a request that need not be fulfilled in order to play my songs--is that you say and spell my name "awbvious" (pronounced: obvious). And maybe, if possible, give this url where people could make donations: www.awbvious.com/message.htm . I'm not making it a necessity, but I would very much appreciate it, so I can afford to make more covers in the future, while keeping this site free to the public.
I do my covers since I really do believe imitation to be the most sincere form of flattery. Thank you for your time, and spread the word, even if your station doesn't do, say, music from this decade, let others know. Either forward this email to them, or tell them of the url where this message is, (www.awbvious.com/dj.htm) I'd much appreciate it.
much love,
awbvious
